AsiaWise Professionals is pleased toannounce the opening of our member firm’s new office in Chennai, India.
Chennai is one of the leading commercial and industrial cities in southern India and is recognized as one of the country’s major economic hubs, with a strong concentration of industries including automotive, manufacturing, logistics, and IT services. In particular,
Chennai is widely known as a major center for the automobile and auto components industries and is often referred to as the “Detroit of India.” In recent years, investments in electronics, data centers, and renewable energy have also accelerated, further establishing Chennai as a key strategic base for global companies expanding their presence in southern India.
Interest among Japanese companies in Chennai and the State of Tamil Nadu continues to grow steadily. While many Japanese companies have traditionally established operations in the region, particularly in the automotive and manufacturing sectors, recent years have
seen increasing activity in new business areas, including supply chain restructuring, enhancement of research and development functions, and investment in digital transformation and green transformation (GX) initiatives.
At the same time, legal and practical support systems addressing these evolving business environments remain insufficient. Legal services for Japanese companies in India have historically been concentrated in Delhi, and there is an increasing need to strengthen support frameworks for Japanese businesses operating in southern India.
